Six stops in the oldest residential quarter in Cape Town, laid out as a day rather than a map: bakery first, the quarter across the middle of it, and the walk back out onto Buitengracht once the music starts. Barely more than a kilometre end to end, so the walking is the smallest part of it, and it is deliberately not a list of everywhere you could eat here. This is a neighbourhood people live in — the streets are narrow, the houses are private, and the photographs are of the doorways, not through them.
